What is % proof?
10.24.1998
<cplusplus> Beer is like 12 proof. <jp70> Raspberry Ciderjack, that sounds good <cplusplus> I have shit in my cubord that's 150 proof. <jp70> So what is hard cider's proof? <cplusplus> I dunno. I'd guess two to four? <cplusplus> Do you know the % acl content? <jp70> Yah not much. I love cider though. <jp70> acl = alcohol? <cplusplus> Yeah <jp70> isn't the % acl content the proof? <cplusplus> no <jp70> Oh <cplusplus> 150% alchohol content? <jp70> Oh yah. <jp70> :) <jp70> So what's proof? <cplusplus> Twice the % <jp70> That seems like a pointless system, then. <cplusplus> If you deal with percentages, you get non real numbers. With the proof system you can round and multiply and you always get a real number. And when you're drunk you want to know the difference between 12.1 and 12.9 <cplusplus> or something. I don't know. <cplusplus> That's what I thought, too. |
